Saxon summit for skilled workers

The need for skilled workers is on everyone’s lips and is now also seen as a central challenge for the positive development of the Saxon economy across all departments in the Saxon cabinet. Skilled workers ensure innovation, competitiveness and prosperity and are therefore the basis for a good life in our state, for a vibrant culture and a fruitful environment for science and research. The action plan was the basis for the “Pact for Attracting International Skilled Workers and Employees to Saxony”. An initiative from the SMWA that was and is to be welcomed. There are three things we are pleased about:
1. the inclusion of many of the ideas of the Wirtschaft für ein Weltoffenes Sachsen association in this pact.
2. the cross-departmental cooperation on the topic, which our association, together with the chambers and Silicon Saxony, for example, have long been calling for. It’s great that the message has gotten through.
3. the broad alliance between employers’ associations, chambers, labor market players and trade unions.

Three things we would like to see:
1. The parallelization of the pact with the Saxon Integration and Participation Act, which is currently in progress. And we motivate people to get it through the cabinet despite all the adversities in this legislature. If this does not succeed, further Saxony-bashing is inevitable. In this case, it will be justified.
2. necessary change processes among the labor market players: There are currently few opportunities to leverage the potential of the domestic unemployed: The focus today should therefore be on the Federal Employment Agency making the best possible contribution to labor migration, as this is where the greatest dynamics in the labor market can be expected.
3. the welcoming culture among employers: respect for those who think differently and tolerance and diversity in the workplace are essential for a healthy corporate culture. In companies, integration, inclusion and diversity lead to business success by unlocking the enormous potential of employees’ different knowledge, skills and experience. In this way, everyone can contribute to creating a fair and inclusive working environment in which diversity and individuality are valued and in which everyone feels they belong.
